Rahul & Aarohi’s Hindu Wedding at Deer Creek Golf Club

Outdoor Hindu wedding at Deer Creek Gold Club- Have a Mandap with a view!

Rahul and Aarohi had their Outdoor Hindu Wedding Ceremony at Deer Creek Golf Club in Ajax Ontario. Their wedding had all the traditional ceremonies in a Hindu Wedding with a backdrop of a beautiful water-facing Mandap. Gone are the days where Hindu Ceremonies were restricted to certain location now many venues are opening their doors to accommodate Hindu weddings and ceremonies. If you can visualize it and have a great Decor team, you can create magic with any outdoor site. When I met Rahul and Aarohi, we were really excited to coordinate their wedding and reception. It was clear they were a thoughtful and very kind couple. They wanted to make the day very special for not only themselves but their guests as well. The best way I can describe their wedding day is high energy, emotional, and fun.

So if you are considering having an outdoor Hindu wedding, keep on reading on as Rahul and Aarohi’s was definitely one for the books.

Decor - If you have visited Deer Creek Golf Club they have a Gazebo that is already placed in one of their outdoor locations that is used for weddings. However, the couple wanted to create a beautiful Mandap that matched their style and their wedding vision. Their decor team Ethereal Creators built a Mandap where the backdrop also included the water on the property. With this came some changes around where the chairs would be placed for the ceremony and the walk way for the entrances for the ceremony. Gentle Planner coordinated a rehearsal with the couple and their families to practice how they were going to walk in for each of their entrances. The decor did not hold back. It was remarkable lots of florals in pinks, reds, and blush tones and gold accents. A walkway was created by the decor team to clearly mark where the bride and groom would enter from. For the reception, which occurred indoors in one of the halls, the decor team used tones of blues, greys, and purples. The use of balanced colours and decor style from warm outdoor themes vs. cold indoor themes really helped build a distinction across the two events that occurred on the same day. The reception also included a backdrop that fit perfectly with Deer Creek’s chairs and lighting fixtures. Ethereal Creators were able to create two distinct spaces for the wedding and reception in the same venue.

First Look - First looks are pretty common within many western weddings as the timeline structure organically allows for that. In the past, since there is a Bharat where the grooms comes to the venue in Hindu weddings, and the bride’s family greets them, most couples would have their first look at the Mandap when they start the wedding ceremony. As things have changed and developed over the years more couples are doing what fits their needs and how they want to spend the day with their partner. Aarohi and Rahul had a first look prior to that start of their wedding ceremony at a park nearby the venue location. They were able to share a private moment together that was meaningful for them and their photographer was there to capture it. They did personal vows and shared a quiet, slow moment together. This is a great idea as most Indian weddings are packed with activities and it can be difficult to have a moment alone unless you are intentional about putting it in your timeline. Having a first look can also ease your nerves and make you feel less anxious when you walk down the aisle.

Dances - The groom had a Bharat that was quite the sight for many of the onlookers at the golf club! The Bharat included a horse and a Dhol player and their large wedding party. The families danced there way to the Milni where haars were exchanged from both sides led by the pandit. The dancing did not stop at the Bharat that energy carried through to the evening reception. Gentle Planner has seen lots of couples make their way into the hall as the doors swing open with their guests cheering for them. But this was something special and Aarohi and Rahul definitely raised the bar on announcing their arrival at their reception. Their entire entrance was choreographed dance. It was smooth, fun, energetic, and definitely got all their guest in the mood for some dancing. Rahul and Aarohi weren’t the only ones with great entrances. The bride’s brother and cousin did a great Michael Jackson inspired entrances which everyone loved. If you are having an entrance for your reception and you love dancing, consider adding a choreographed component that will set the tone for the night!

Emotional - As we shared above, one of the words I would use to describe their wedding was emotional. A heartfelt video montage was played for those who could not attend the wedding from around the world with messages to the couple. There was not a dry eye in the audience. The bride also honoured her late father at the welcome table and carried his photo in her Kaleeras. The speeches were thoughtful and shared lots of memories with the couple and honoured the bride’s father.

MC - The master of the ceremony this is a key job you want to either hire a professional for or give to someone who is a great public speaker and who can have fun with it. The couple’s MC had high energy, kept the crowd engaged and made all the right jokes.

Rahul and Aarohi’s outdoor Hindu wedding ceremony at Deer Creek Gold Club in Ajax Ontario was a beautiful celebration. The Gentle Planner team is grateful they were able to be apart of their special day.
